Eosinophil

Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell. They play an important role in many allergic and immunologic diseases. In these disorders there are an excessive number of eosinophils in the bloodstream and/or in tissues such as the esophagus, the skin, the gastrointestinal tract, or the lungs. Allergists/immunologists receive specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders.
